CV searching by an industrial recruitment agency is never an easy task. This is the genesis of either ending up with the right or the wrong candidate. However, there are certain key mistakes industrial recruitment agencies are likely to make at this stage, which may hamper their chances of shortlisting the right candidates. They include the following:
Failure to use other job titles
There are multiple different ways an industrial recruitment agency can describe an opening. For instance, a “sale consultant” can also be advertised as a sales executive. If you stick to just one selected job title, there are chances you will miss out on a wide variety of more exciting prospects.
Failure to use Boolean
With Boolean, recruitment agencies have the ability to generate multiple results from their database by just a single search. Boolean makes it easy for the recruiters to specify the attribute they desire in their candidates, and this leads to more targeted results which will in turn shorten the time for CV searching.
Additionally, the Boolean string can always be saved for future searches or simply modified for other clients. But most recruiting agencies never do this and end up spending a lot of time in untargeted searches.
Not keeping the search open
Most recruiters will try to narrow down their searches using the “Advanced Search” feature in their tools in an attempt to find the right CVs. But this can be misleading simply because most job candidate will have profiles in job boards and they will forget to update them ones they get their first job. If you keep your searches very tight, therefore, you will miss out on some good candidate who might have not updated their CVs. You should keep the search open and use the Boolean function as described above, then narrow down on the specifics manually. The Boolean will trim the list and it will be easy to apply the subsequent filters.
