Scam Warning Signs for Job Seekers in Montreal

Montreal is a rich city in terms of job opportunities. Thousands are drawn into the city each year to try their luck at obtaining employment in one of the top cities in the world. However, this city is not only home to job seekers, but also fraudsters and crooked organizations looking to defraud unsuspecting job seekers.

If you are a job seeker in Montreal at this time, you should learn how to identify a job scam from a mile away, and how to avoid them lest you become an unfortunate victim of those pathetic scammers. Here are some of the warning signs to watch out for in a potential employment scam:

There is no experience needed

There is no legit job that does not require any form of experience or qualifications. If someone tells you there is no experience needed, brand them as scammers immediately and don’t engage them any further.

The salary is too high

In as much as you desire to have the best remuneration for our efforts, there are certain salary figures that will tell you immediately that something is amiss regarding the job opportunity you are being offered. If you feel that the salary is too high, then you are either potentially under-qualified for the position, or it is a scam.

You are required to provide any form of payment

Some scammers are selfish enough to request that you send a payment to process your job application. This is only happening because some people actually believe that making a payment will increase their odds of success, and that’s how they get scammed. Be careful and don’t fall prey to this scam.

You are asked to do an IM interview

Even though the world has gone digital and interviews can now be conducted in person, through Skype or via the telephone, we have yet to reach a point where interviews are habitually conducted via IM. If you receive such a request, it may very well be a scam so keep your guard up.
